When it comes to choosing where to play daily fantasy sports, no one site is right for everyone. And that’s a good thing! As in almost any industry, competition is healthy and brings many benefits to the consumer.

I have personally registered, deposited, played, and cashed out on each of the sites listed below:

The Big Two

Fanduel — The original daily fantasy site. They basically pioneered the concept and have built up an impeccable reputation. With official partners like NBC Sports and the NBA, they are guaranteed to be industry leaders for years to come. You’ll find a huge variety of games, deep player pools, and big prize payouts here. DraftKings — They are the second largest daily fantasy site and recently acquired Draftstreet, which was the third largest. After this acquisition, DraftKings can now legitimately challenge Fanduel for the biggest games and prizes. With the financial backing of investors like the Walt Disney Co., and partners like MLB and the NHL, there’s no doubt they will continue to grow rapidly. Medium-sized Sites

Yahoo Daily Fantasy — You guys know Yahoo. The season-long fantasy sports giant was a bit late to daily fantasy, but they are certainly making up for lost time. If you’ve ever played fantasy on Yahoo before, the interface and scoring settings will look very familiar. They run hundreds of guaranteed prize pool contests, often with substantial overlays.

FantasyDraft — The site I have won more money on than any other. Contests with 300-500 entries run each week, and they have beginner and intermediate contests to help get your feet wet. They also feature some special games sponsored by sports celebrities from time to time. And again, I have won more more here than anywhere else.

Boom Fantasy — Formerly DraftPot, they are now known as Boom Fantasy. If you don’t have time to comb through player salaries, this is the place to play, as most of their contests do not use a salary cap. You simply choose players in tiers pick’em-style to build your lineups, and as a result, it literally takes seconds to enter a contest. Definitely one to watch.

StarsDraft — Started in 2014 as Victiv, they are now called StarsDraft after being bought by online poker company, Pokerstars. They have some generous Bankroll Builder freerolls to get you started and a nifty, unique feature called Victron that helps you easily generate lineups.

Smaller Sites

RealTime Daily Fantasy Sports — In general, one of the appeals of a small site is the softer level of competition, and this place definitely fits the bill. Football, baseball, and basketball contests are all on the easy side, especially their freerolls and GPPs.

Draft — Offers live snake drafts and quick cashouts. They are focused on their mobile app, which is slick and easy-to-use.

Final Word

Yes, I know, I know, there are only 8 sites on this Top 10 list! Well, the DFS landscape is a rapidly evolving space, and with the last wave of mergers and acquisitions, there are only 8 sites on the market at this time that I feel are worth playing on. Hopefully, as the DFS industry grows, more competitors will throw their hat in the ring, perhaps even some well-known brands with major financial backing. One thing is for sure, DFS is here to stay.
